5 Questions with Diana Gutierrez, SureCity Networks Project Analyst

02. 08. 23 Diana Gutierrez is a Project Analyst at SureCity Networks. Recently, we sat down with her to learn more about her role, why she got involved with project management, and what she likes to do in her spare time.

Where are you from?

I am from Bogota, Colombia. I’ve been living in Australia for almost 4 years now.

What is your role at SureCity Networks?

As a Project Analyst, I’m across all the projects that are going on at the company, including even some of the business development projects within SureCity Networks. My day-to-day can involve organizing the quotes, scheduling visits, chatting with clients and the team, or allocating resources across projects. Essentially, I’m the middleman between the company and the clients.

What drew you to project management at SureCity?

Ever since I was young, I’ve always enjoyed numbers and logic. I like seeing something from move from start to finish and the process that goes on behind closed doors. That led me to study electronic engineering in Colombia, where I eventually ended up working in technology and project management roles before moving to Australia. Specifically, I was working in project management in the transport and logistics industries.

I came to Australia to get an Advanced Diploma in project management and gain some new adventures. After working some hospitality jobs, I joined SureCity Networks nearly a year ago.

How has the cyber security industry changed in the year since you’ve been with us?

This industry changes every day! While there are more risks that we’re facing as a society, there have also been great developments in the tools and protections we use to fight those threats. As a Project Analyst, it’s been interesting to see these changes translate to our work with clients.

One trend that I’ve noticed recently is that clients are becoming more educated. When they approach us, they know what they want and exactly what they’re looking for. Sometimes, it’s up to us to work with the clients and recommend an alternate technology or route we think might be better. Regardless, there is an increased awareness among business owners across Australia, and I think that’s great.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love to play soccer. I’m currently in a soccer team – we train twice per week and play a match every weekend. I’m also a big reader! At the moment, I’m reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.
